I've just been to Marco Torres and have been consumed by his passion for creativity, ICT and innovation! Hoorah!
Anyone got any innovative ideas about how to use ICT in classrooms in creative ways that will engage and inspire out students? (online tools, software, hardware, people power etc)
Without ICT innovation, not only will students become further disengaged, employer groups and Government Departments will out us as a dinosaur institution... and as increasingly irrelevant in equipping students for the workforce.
ReplyDeleteI think two important things need to occur before we can even begin to introduce the ICT that will be education's lifeblood. First, teachers must see innovation modelled and see that it engages and is more efficient at doing so than the method they use. Secondly, funds and time release must be granted to upskill educators in proficient use of ICT. Otherwise schools will continue to fill with expensive interactive whiteboards and data projectors that are either gathering dust or being used as glorified slide projectors....
...and we are getting 5 new Smart Boards this week!!!!
